Sesamstraat

Sesamstraat

Generations grew up with Sesame Street and watched it before bed. The program originated in America and, after great success, was adopted by more and more
countries. Sesame Street is now broadcast in more than 150 countries and is
watched by more than 6 million children a day. With well-known characters such as
Bert, Ernie, Cookie Monster, and Elmo, it is one of the most famous programs in the world.

In 2026, Sesame Street will celebrate its 50th anniversary in The Netherlands, a
huge milestone for this beloved children’s television series. For viewers here, the
celebration brings exciting news, including the show’s availability on Netflix and a
major digital expansion via NTR.

Starting November 10, 2025, Sesame Street returns to Netflix with its brand-new 56th season. This season features a refreshed format with 11-minute episodes, each
focusing on a single story. Classic segments like Elmo’s World and Cookie Monster’s Foodie Truck are back, along with new interactive elements. In total, Netflix offers 90 hours of classic episodes, giving both new viewers and nostalgic fans plenty to enjoy.

Beginning January 2026, Sesame Street will launch its largest digital library yet on
YouTube, featuring hundreds of full-length classic episodes. This initiative aims to
help children worldwide learn, grow, and be kind, one episode at a time. For Dutch
viewers, this means easy access to a rich collection of educational content for
children, available to stream on NTR as well.
